Film Review : Nicos Weg

This film is titled "Nicos Weg" which means Nico's Journey, in general, this film tells the story of Nico's journey in Germany, especially in Cologne, German. With a duration of 103 minutes, which is shorter than most films, this film contains many lessons and portraits of German beauty. This film uses the point of view of the main character, Nico, who is from Spain and not fluent in German.

This film begins with the arrival of Nico, a young man from Seville, Spain at the Köln Bonn airport by listening to German conversations through his headset. Then, a little girl, Emma came to Nico and complimented his bag. Then Nico's journey began. He lost his bag due to the taxi driver. Luckily there are Emma and her aunt, Lisa who wants to help Nico find his bag and his aunt, Yara, even gives Nico a place to stay for 2 days.

During his stay with Lisa he experienced many interesting events, he called the radio, joined a farewell party for one of Lisa's house friends, babysitting Emma, and of course learned German with Lisa and her friends. There is one scene that tells the reason why he came to Germany.

Nico had a conversation with Max

“Was ist denn?”

What is it?

“Ich will nich mehr studieren. Nie wieder.”

I don't want to study anymore. Never again.

“Ich hesse es”

I hate it.

“Aber?”

But?

“Aber meine eltern wollen das?”

But my parents want that

“Mein Vater sagt immer, ich muss studieren.”

My father always says I have to study

“Bist du deshalb in Deutschland?”

Is that why you are in Germany?

“Ich will weg von zu Haus”

I want to run away from my house.

“Weit weg!”

Far away!

“Und was willst du hier machen?”

And what do you want to do here?

It seems Nico also doesn't know what he really wants to do but he knows he ran away from Seville, his home, because he doesn't want to live the life his parents forced him to.

For the full story just watch this film!!

This film is made for learning German in a more interesting and fun way. Through this film, we can learn basic German such as self-introduction, greetings, saying goodbyes, alphabet, numbers, and how to compose sentences. Not only that, we can also study German culture, such as how to dress, how to start a conversation, and the manner when meeting strangers. This film also has good cinematography, so we won't feel bored. With clear and straightforward articulation and pronunciation, it is easier for people who are not fluent in German to understand and distinguish each word.

"Tschüss" is my favorite word. Perhaps Lisa is the character who uses this word the most. Her pronunciation and expression when she says this word is the reason why I like this word. And overall this word just captivating.

I highly recommend this film for people who are just learning German. And I suggest to prepare a note to write down the words you just heard, after that search what it means, I'm sure you will remember it easier.

That's all film review from me, thank you for reading...

Danke und tschüss!!!!
