Bogor Botanical Garden
Hello everyone! Today i want to talk about Bogor Botanical Garden. Do you know about that place? Maybe you know it as "Kebun Raya Bogor". I went there last year with my family. The Bogor Botanical Gardens is a botanical garden located in Bogor, Indonesia, its about 95 km from Bandung. It is currently operated by Indonesian Institute of Sciences . The Garden is located in the city center and adjoin the presidential palace compound of Istana Bogor. It covers an area of 87 hectares and contains 13,983 different kinds of trees and plants of various origin. The geographic position of Bogor means it rains almost daily, even in the dry season. This makes the Garden an advantageous location for the cultivation of tropical plants.
Bogor Botanical Garden already existed in the reign of Sri Baduga Maharaja of the Sunda Kingdom on purpose to preserving the environment as a place to take care for seeds of rare woods. In the early 1800s Governor General Thomas Stamford Raffles that has a big interest in botany, developed this garden into a beautiful garden and when his wife died, a monument was built as an dedication. Bogor Botanical garden has served as a major research center for agriculture and horticulture. It is the oldest botanical garden in Southeast Asia.
As it developed by the dutch goverment, this place has dutch sense buildings that be used for laboratory and now there is 13 spot you can visit, such as Gunting Pond, Ducth Cemetery, Teijsmann Garden, Orchids House, and the others.
As soon as we go in, we can feel refresh, because this garden has so many trees that produce oxygen. You can feel sensation of forest. So, this place is suitable for nature lovers, even you are not the one, im sure you will like it.
When i was there, my brother and i rented bicycle to go around the garden so i can visit many spots. It was an amazing trip, because it's not just fun but i learned something new, about environment, plants, and history.
